'The Golden Compass' star Dakota Blue Richards plans to shun Hollywood to become a teacher.

The 13-year-old actress - who was chosen from an open audition of 10,000 girls to star alongside Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig in the children's fantasy adventure adapted from Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' book trilogy - but does not want to follow in their footsteps and become a full-time actor.

Dakota said: "It could be good to have a career as successful as Daniel's and Nicole's, but I don't want to just do acting. I'd quite like to be a supply teacher in a primary school."

The British schoolgirl also admits she was honoured to work alongside such an experienced cast.

She said: "It was really good to work with them. It makes you feel so special acting with all these people. They've got so much experience. I learnt a lot."

Dakota was delighted to get the lead role of Lyra Belacqua as she was a huge fan of the books.

She said: "I loved them. I read them all when I was about nine and just fell in love with Lyra and her character so this was dream come true."
